The Litchfield Pickers Market is an outdoor antique market that has been a beloved destination for collectors, upcyclers, and treasure hunters for years. Upcycling and Repurposing Vintage Finds
As a seasoned upcycler, I’m always on the lookout for items that I can breathe new life into whether it’s through a fresh coat of paint, a creative DIY project, or simply by showcasing the item’s natural beauty.
Here’s a quick list of items I’m always on the hunt for:
- Wooden Architectural Pieces to upcycle
- Rolling Pins
- Shutters
- Windows
- Crockery with character
- Blue-striped pottery from Marshall, Texas
- Furniture
- Unique antique pieces such as the wooden post office boxes featured in my video
- Picnic Baskets
- Collectible old tins and canisters
Discovering Unique Furniture Pieces
While my primary focus while antique shopping at the Litchfield Pickers Market is often on smaller items, I couldn’t resist the amazing deal on this oak pie safe. It was beautifully refinished by the vendors and was priced at just $100.
Transporting the hutch was no easy feat as it barely fit in my minivan, but the effort was well worth it. The piece is now proudly displayed in my booth at My Treasure House, my local antique shop. With its original wavy glass and charming engraved details, this piece is sure to be a showstopper. I am asking $299 for a profit of close to $175 (after commission and gas is taken out).
