Farmhouse Antique Booth Tour
Bringing Summer Inventory to My Vintage Shop
Hey there! This video shares a Farmhouse Antique Booth Tour filled with summer inventory! It’s been a while since I’ve been able to post a video or update you on my antique booth at My Treasure House in Edwardsville, Illinois. As you can see in the video, I’ve been dealing with a pretty tough pregnancy – I’m currently 24 weeks along with my first baby girl, and this pregnancy has been significantly more challenging than my previous three pregnancies with my boys.
Unfortunately this means that my antique booth, Green Onion Vintage, has had to take a bit of a backseat. But I’m finally starting to feel a bit better, and I was able to get out to the booth this past week to add some new summer inventory. In this post, I’m going to give you a full tour of the booth. I also share all the new pieces I brought in, as well as a few other updates about the shop.
Refreshing my Farmhouse Antique Booth for Summer
As you can see in the video, I brought in a nice mix of new inventory to freshen up the booth for the summer season. I love how these pieces blend in with the existing inventory in the booth. There’s a great mix of greens, earth tones, wood, metal, that create a really cohesive farmhouse look.
Here’s what I’m putting in my antique booth today:
- Antique sign with carved detailing
- Vintage green kettle filled with greenery
- Old book with lots of character
- Brass Desk Lamp
- Rolling pin which needs some fresh paint
- Rae Dunn Tea Pot
- Rustic crock filled with greenery
- Vintage glass measuring cup (that’s hard to let go!)
We also just added more booth space a few weeks ago. As you can see, the booth now extends to the left, with a large green hutch anchoring that side of the space. This extra square footage has been so helpful in giving us more room to display larger furniture pieces and more smalls than before.
Navigating the Ebbs and Flows of Retail
As any small business owner knows, running a brick-and-mortar shop comes with its fair share of ups and downs. In the video, I mentioned that we tend to see a bit of a slowdown in sales during the summer months. This tends to be the nature of retail. People are out enjoying the nice weather and they’re not necessarily prioritizing antique and vintage shopping.
But we’ve learned to just ride that wave and not get too discouraged. We know that there will be busier seasons, like the holidays, where sales really pick up. And in the meantime, we focus on keeping the booth looking fresh and inviting, with new inventory rotated in regularly. It’s all about maintaining that consistency and giving our customers a reason to keep coming back, even during the slower months.
Of course, the move to our new location a couple of doors down has also been an adjustment. As I mentioned, I think a lot of our regular customers are still getting used to the new spot. But we’re doing our best to spread the word on social media and let people know where to find us.
